Last day of Vacation, July 7th

So the last day of vacation last week was pretty smooth. We woke up, later than expected and high tailed it out the door. We were on a mission. Our first stop was to Chick-Fil-A for some breakfast. Since Kenneth and I had missed breakfast there like three times so far, we figured we had hit the jack pot.

They decided to sit across from me, well after Kenneth stopped wanting to get up and get me stuff. So of course they could not behave at all, those silly people.

Then of course they decided to be super weird and stick out their tongues. Weidros!

After our trip to Lowe's we went home and tackled our projects. Mainly "installing" two doors, fixing a screen and trying to get the cats to use the doors. The first door is pictured below, with Meredith trying it out for the first time. As you can see to the left of the door is a box holding up a plastic part, well that part will eventually be released and the cats will move it in or out depending on their direction; right now, they cannot figure it out with the door closed.

The door sans cat. It is pretty nice. However I will laugh if a raccoon or some other small creature tries to come into the house.

The second door here, is pictured below. It also is with cat in part. That door is so the cats cannot mess up the screen (which was also fixed). The door has a flap (which is up also, same story as above), and the cats on the inside area walk along the board, down a plank then onto the floor, where they can enter through the other door and into the house. Ingenious, however still has it's flaws.

According to my mother, at least seven of the eight cats have gone out both doors. Eventually she realized it was easier to have them start inside and work their way out; yet that also proves a problem since the eighth cat is not exactly the friendliest cat and will not let her pick him up. So as I said above, only seven of the cats can figure it out.

A beautiful butterfly that was inside the screened porch, which Meredith (pictured below) decided to try to eat since it moved. Yes, smart cat you say??? Not really, she also comes in investigate a jumping toad then tries to eat it.

Well this concludes vacation one of summer 2012!
